This is a map of what happened to Poland in September 1939 as a result of the occupation of the country by German and Russian forces. You can see the eastern boundary of Poland as a yellow line, and then the white demarcation line between Russia and Germany which was agreed in the 1939 Nazi-Soviet agreement to divide up Poland. So the eastern part of the country was occupied by Russia. You can also see East Prussia to the north of Poland. What remained of Poland under German occupation was called the General Government. From looking at the map, you can also see locations of the major Jewish ghettos throughout Poland (in the major cities) to where the Germans forced the Jews to relocate and live there in strictly defined, separate sections of the cities.
