The Global Environment

Well, wea re on eworld.  That has been apparent since the images of the earth returned to us from satellites and manned space missions, but it is curious why that concpetion has such a hard time taking hold.

We have scientists everywhr studying envronmental issues, yet we continue to deny them credibuity when it comes to issue sof the destruction of habitats and the extinctionm of species.
We wonder why well water gets contaimnated when we dispose f pesticies in big holes in the ground.

We use up extraordinary amopuns of natural resources for frivouls things and refuse to limt consumtion .
We refuse to listen to the experts studying issues such as the oozone hole over the outhern hemisphere, or the issue og global warming.
one thousan dscientists can detail evidnece of global waring, but one preseident refuses to believe, sop none of use believe.

A Lebanese man walks on a public
beach polluted with heavy fuel oil in Beirut, July 2006. An oil spill caused by Israeli raids on a Lebanese power plant could rival the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster that despoiled the Alaskan coast if not urgently addressed, the United Nations has said

Air pollution
Air pollution

I guess that I can go on, but since about the 1970s, I have repetedly read about such topics as

5.  Environment

a.  pollution and poison everywhere, including some stuff that is going to be around for thousands of years, like Chernobyl in 1986

b.  endangered species

c.  historical buildings, old monuments and cathedrals crumbling

d.  acid rain

e.  rain forests disappearing

h.  global warming?

1)  growth of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere leads to warming because CO2 absorbs heat

2)  only takes a difference in the annual temp of .5 degrees to cause trouble

3)  many scientists believe 1.5-4.5 degrees C by 2050

4)  slow use of fossil fuels, reforestation

i.  noise pollution

j.  toxic wastes and oil spills

k.  ozone hole over south pole

n.  development and environment must be put together, ecology and economy are inter-related, need international not national institutions

All of these merit closer investigation, and all of these are issues created by humankind.  It is kind of weird, but you put a dog in a crate as part of his houstraining exercise so that the dog learns to go to tth ebathroom outside.  The dog will not go to the batthrooom in that crewat in whcih e is living, but man does not have a simila rbuilt in featruerw.
