1973
In March 1973 Pink FLoyd released the Dark Side of the Moon record album--this was long before the CD or mp3--it was the hey-day of the eight-track tape. Dark Side of the Moon would go on to become one of the all-time rock classics and one of the best-selling albums of all-time. (I will write more about this later.)
In March 1973 I was in eighth grade at the old Slatington Junior high school on main street in Slatingont, PA (sixty miles north of Philadelphia; one hundred and fifty miles west of New York). In a couple of weeks, we would all start hiking up the hill to the high school for some after school conditioning drills to get us ready to play high school football when we were freshman in the fall. I wasn't listening to Pink Floyd in the spring of 1973, and nobody that I knew was listening either.
For this course assignment, check out the specific assignment question (to the left). Then read my background notes on Pink Floyd, take a look at the group's timeline, check out my personal memories of life with Pink Floydperspective. and then finally feel free to investigate the many online sources of information.
