Unit 8: Decolonization Exam

Soweto house

A house in the Soweto district of Johannesburg, South Africa. This area where black Africans were required to live was a visible sign of the policy of apartheid carried out by the South African National Party after 1948. This was the scene of the 1976 Soweto Uprising which brought to the attention of the world the policy of apartheid and its brutal implementation. Photo credit Leigh Ann Macklin.
