HIS 102
The World War I Paper
Read either Georges Boucheron, L'Assaut: l'Argonne et Vauquois avec la 10e division, 1914-1915, or Julius Mazé, ed., Le carnet de campagne du sergent Lefèvre, 1914-1916 (along with the background notes for either). These are both French memoirs that I have personally translated.
Answer the following question in a one-page paper:
Citing specific evidence from the book that you have chosen to read (not from the textbook), how did World War I affect the author and his friends?
Your paper must follow this format:
- font size 10 or 12
- one-inch margins
- double-spaced
- Since I know the exact source that you are citing, you do not need page number citations for your quoted evidence.
- not to exceed one (1) page
- name, and only name, at the top left of the paper
- The paper must have brief introduction and conclusion paragraphs (each not to exceed three lines).
- You may consider submitting a draft of your assignment for feedback before submitting the assignment for a grade. At times, you may be asked to rewrite your essay before it is graded. This is done for your own benefit and will result in an improved grade.
Please take a moment to review Charlie's History Writing Center for specific information on the writing requirements for the assignments in the course. Please check this short explanation of what it means to cite historical evidence.
Your assignment should be submitted on Canvas.
