Umbrella Handle Plant Burned, 24 November 1915 (Wednesday)
On Wednesday afternoon at 4.30 o'clock, fire broke our in the Universal Umbrella Handle plant which entirely destroyed the north end wing of the building, containing the main machinery and bake oven for the manufacture of handles...It means employment for fifteen to twenty men.

According to the newspaper (20 February 1914), the factory had just begun operations in March 1914.
Slatington Hose Company No. 1 annex completed.
